Local artists for Crinan Show
Local artists join Royal Glasgow Institute for Crinan Show
As printed - Courier & Advertiser - 14th August 2009
Crinan Hotel has once again been the setting for a special art exhibition putting local artists alongside some of Scotland’s best.
The forth annual Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts (RGI) summer show opened with a private preview on Friday and will run until September 6th.
Gordon Mitchell, exhibition convenor, said it was an opportunity to take the work of prominent artists outside the central belt and a portion from every sale would go towards the RGI.
George added; “The local artists have responded well to it, it gives them a focus.”
More than 50 works by local artists are showing in the Sea Lock Gallery, including Lesley Burr, Rebecca Barnett, Ethel Walker, Jolomo and Frances Macdonald. In the Crinan Hotel’s gallery, stunning views over the loch are no competition for work by RGI members George Devlin, Jack Knox, Charlie MacQueen and sculptor Alistair Ross.
